U9 Rounders v St. Martin's Ampleforth

The U9 girls played their last match of the season against St. Martin's Ampleforth, on a bright and breezy day. They lost the toss and were put into bat where some half rounders by Tilly, Georgia Hartley and Lottie were scored and an excellent left handed hit from Hannah Cowen which earned her a full rounder. When we went into field the girls were ready to try and keep SMA's score down but unfortunately there were a lot of no balls which gave away lots of half rounders. When SMA hit the ball the girls fielded well, with some super stops by Georgie Kidger and Lottie, and some good catches at second base by Charlotte Smith, who was well backed up by Amy El-Barghouty. Georgia was unlucky not to hold onto a catch at 4th base, but she did well to stump out another batter instead.

In our second batting innings the hitting was much more consistent and full rounders were scored by Charlotte, Lottie, Georgia and Tilly, who scored 2, which helped our score to a very respectable 14 1/2. We had another change of bowler in our second fielding innings and not quite so many no balls were given, but it is not an easy job having to bowl accurately time and time again. The SMA girls batted quite well scoring a handful of half rounders and a full rounder to take their final score to 18 1/2. It was a really good team effort by the U9's who did not give up at all. Not the result they had hoped for, but they have had a great season. Well done girls.
