Hannah Cowen had her debut bowl for the team as captain of: Tilly Dewhirst (backstop), Charlotte Smith (2nd post), Lily Naylor (3rd post), Madeleine Mackilligin (4th Post), Amy El-Barghouty (1st deep), Georgie Kidger (2nd deep), Emily Hughes (3rd deep) Georgia Hartley (3rd deep). The sun was shining and the field was full of other Bramcote teams and the match began.
Bramcote fielded first (24 good balls) and Hannah took a little time to adjust to her new position but stuck at the bowling and remained very calm (and never stopped smiling!). The Bramcote girls fielded well with Charlotte stumping someone out at 2nd, Lily stumping a player out at 3rd and Hannah out-running two College girls to 1st and 3rd. The girls kept the Scarborough College score down to just 4½.
We started off batting quite slowly and I was beginning to panic a little, but on their second bat each Tilly scored our first full rounder. Again the Bramcote Under 9 girls incorporated big hits and clever running to maximise their score and finished on 5 rounders with Emily also scoring a rounder.
In the second innings (16 balls) the College girls worked hard and kept us on our toes with some good hits, but our girls continued to field well and limited their score to 5. When Bramcote batted, the girls were determined to remain undefeated and achieved a score of 7 rounders with excellent hitting from all of the girls. Final score: Bramcote 12, Scarborough College 9½.
Thanks again for all of the support from the parents and thanks to my Under 9 team for being so enthusiastic and such a pleasure to coach throughout the season. Well done girls!
