U11 IX v Lyndhurst

On a surprisingly pleasant day Bramcote welcomed Lyndhurst who, due to representative call ups, were missing some first choice players. After winning the toss and electing to field Oscar Herring and Charlie Watts bowled a very tight line and soon had the visitors in trouble. After 5 overs Lyndhurst were reduced to 13 runs for 5 wickets. First change bowlers Charlie Cowen and William Newitt  both bowled well, and although they did not take a wicket, kept the score down. A run out, from a direct hit by Oscar Herring, along with a wicket each from Josh Kidger and Henry Truelove had the opposition in further trouble at 50 for 8. After a brief recovery, Harry Anderson then collected the final 2 Lyndhurst wickets.

Needing to score at 3 runs per over, the instruction to the Bramcote batsman was to take their time and wait for the bad balls. Charlie Watts and Harry Anderson followed the instructions and scored a chanceless partnership of 40 runs (from10 overs) before retiring. After Henry Truelove was caught, Oscar Herring and Toby Wrightson put on a further 20 runs before they too retired. It then looked as though Josh Kidger and Charlie Cowen would see Bramcote home, but Charlie Cowan was stumped with 2 runs required. This allowed William Newitt to enter the fray and score the winning runs, with an extravagant on-drive.

In the field the overall performance of the whole team was encouraging, with only a couple of lapses of concentration. There were four dropped catches, however three were extremely difficult. The batting was solid, and there was a lot of good cricket played - a real team effort.

Lyndhurst 72 runs all out (20 overs)

Bramcote 73 for 2.

Bramcote won by 8 wickets.
