Under 11 rubgy vs. Westville (h)

It was a pleasure to welcome Westville House from Ilkley to Scarborough once again. After their match against Terrington on Saturday night they spent the night at Bramcote before taking on the Under 11s at rugby. A keen overnight frost delayed the kick for half an hour but when the game started conditions were just about perfect and a large crowd of spectators were well entertained by both teams. Westville started brightly and with Bramcote ( in the middle of their football season) looking a little sluggish there was not much between the teams for the firts ten minutes. However once the Bramcote forwards began to establish their dominance in the set scrum and at the lineout the visitors found themselves pushed back towards their own line. The forwards led by the typically ebullient Toby Wrightson and Oscar Herring provied plenty of good ball for the backs who, with Charlie Watts in the unfamiliar role of fly half, actually handled the ball pretty well. There were lots of good performances from Bramcote players against opponents who never gave up and deserved a try for their efforts. It was great to see Peter Fairbank back in such good form after his broken arm last term and Charlie Cowen made some telling contributions from full back but the man of the match was Henry Trulove who looked sharp  at scrum half.
