The 1st team netball girls knew that their game against Read would be tough and it took a while for the nerves to settle. The Read girls were quick to take the lead, going 4 - 2 up by the end of the first quarter. Bramcote began to fight back with some encouraging play in both attack and defence and Olivia and Emily scored some good goals to bring us level by half time. The third quarter was their best as they managed to overturn some of Read's missed shots and move the ball back to the attacking circle to score. The Read defenders were pushing the Bramcote attackers all the time, with some tough battles going on, but the Bramcote girls held their own and were just in front at the end of the third quarter, 9 - 7. The final quarter was a little frantic for both sides with some very fast play and consequently, lots of errors - missed passes, interceptions, footwork. Both teams scored two goals each meaning that the Bramcote girls had managed to hold onto their advantage from the last quarter, winning 11 - 9.
A really good game that was entertaining to watch and showed some excellent team play and some relatively calm nerves under pressure, especially the shooters, Olivia and Emily. The defence did well to get the majority of rebounds with Victoria and Miranda out jumping their opponents. The centre court players, Emily Edwards, Camilla and Anna moved the ball well from defence to attack despite being well marked by their opponents. Well done girls, a tough game and you did well to win.
