Bramcote was founded on a Christian ethos and has a close association with St Martins-on-the-Hill Parish Church. The teaching of Religious Education takes place throughout the School (Reception to Year 8), with an emphasis on the Bible stories. Pupils in the Pre-Prep School (Reception to Year 3) have the opportunity to study other World Religions. In the Main School (Year 4 to Year 8) the 13+ Common Entrance syllabus is followed with pupils studying the Compulsory Topics of the Old and New Testaments and the General Bible Knowledge Topics for the optional paper. The resources used by the Department are the Good News Bible and the Lion Children’s Bible.
The children in the Main School (Year 4 to Year 8) also participate regularly in Chapel Services at school (4 times per week), led by the Headmaster, the Deputy Headmaster or the Vicar from St Martin’s and there is a Service on a Sunday either at School or at St Martin’s. Each term there is a Family service held at school to which guests, relatives and friends are encouraged to attend.Pupils have the opportunity to read the daily lesson and the Service will include a hymn and some prayers. The Services are non-denominational and all the pupils are encouraged to take part. In the Pre-Prep School (Reception to Year 3) the pupils have a daily Assembly that includes a religious element, often a prayer and a song, led by the Head of Pre-Prep. There are very strong links with the PSHE curriculum to promote appropriate moral and spiritual values.
