Dear Parents and Friends,

We come to the end of a very busy and exciting term.  The two Inspections we had went well and we have now recovered from them!

The children have enjoyed the snow which has made the school and grounds look very pretty.

We were delighted to welcome Mrs Rajesh, Mithun’s mother and Mr Reeder, Holly’s Grandad, into the school.  They worked mainly with the children in Yr1 and Reception.  Mrs Rajesh gave us an Indian cookery workshop, she inspired us all to cook a Chickpea curry, it looked so easy when she made it!  She helped the girls wear saris and painted henna patterns on the   children’s hands.  Mr Reeder made apple crumble tarts which smelt very yummy!

Following on from the success of these visitors and Lily’s Mother running the gardening club, if there are any other Parents or Grandparents who would like to share their hobbies, talents or places of work for a visit, we would be delighted to hear from you and work you into our planning.

Mrs Campbell would like to run a small after school cookery club on either Monday or Tuesday afternoon. If your child would like to take part please let me know and we will organise the children into groups and rotate them if necessary.

The children have been busy this half term getting ready for Christmas. The Christingle assembly as usual was beautiful and a lovely way to begin our Christmas celebrations.   We raised over £50 for the Children’s Society.

At the time of writing we have yet to perform the   Nativity play.  This year it is based on the Russian tale of Babushka.  Elsewhere in the Newsletter you will read of the play.

Reports of the Pantomime and Christmas Party will  follow in the next Newsletter.

Our Wednesday Assemblies are great fun.  It is the day we celebrate outstanding work with gold stars and children are invited to share something special with the rest of the school.  We have had pets into school, piano recitals, poetry recitals, solo singing and talks about special people.  It has been very entertaining. The children need to prepare and to let Mr Richardson know so he can give them a slot!

Our Annual Stir up for Christmas cake making took place and was fun.  Hope the cakes taste good!

My thanks go to all the hardworking Pre-Prep Staff who contribute in many different ways to make the Pre-Prep such a super department.

May I and all of us wish you and your families a very happy, peaceful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Judith Panter
