On Thursday 2nd February 2012, the merger of Bramcote School with Scarborough College was announced.

From September 2012, there will be one school for pupils from 3 to 18 serving the town of Scarborough and its surrounding areas. The senior section (11-18) will retain the Scarborough College name and the junior section (3-11) will be known as Bramcote Junior School.

Over the coming months, the two schools will continue to operate in their present form, whilst the process of combining the best parts of each school gets under way, ready for the launch of the new school in September.
The new school will deliver a high quality day and boarding education, and promote excellence and high standards in all areas of school life, within a clear framework of pastoral care and support. The new school will provide full, weekly and occasional boarding from Year 7. Preparing children for Common Entrance to other schools will remain an essential provision of the new school.

These changes will clearly provide significant challenges for all those involved in combining the two schools, children, staff and Governors alike. However, the Governors feel that the merger offers the best option for the future of both schools, and indeed for the children of Scarborough.
