Head of Pre-Prep
I am delighted to tell you that I have appointed Carol Gardner to Head the Bramcote Pre-Prep Department from the start of the Autumn Term. Carol is a very experienced teacher of junior children, particularly in the Pre-Prep age range. Originally from Scarborough, she has taken responsibility for the teaching of both Mathematics and English in a number of Prep Schools in England and Scotland. Since moving back to this area, three years ago, she has taught in a number of local primary schools. Some of you will already know Carol as wife of Neil Gardner, Head of English in the Prep School. I am sure you will want to join me in making her most welcome.
Just a reminder on timings etc for Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June. Please note that Pre-Prep Sports start at 11.00 am and not 11.30 am as previously advised.

Pupils who have not boarded overnight should arrive by 10.00 am with their parents. Specific children required for the concert may be asked to arrive earlier.
There will be a Coffee Concert in the Sports Hall Marquee at 10.00am (Mrs Hartley will inform the performers and I hope there will be a good audience - Coffee and Biscuits will be available)
Following the Concert, weather permitting, we are expecting a spectacular parachute display from 5,000 feet by Sky Dive GB, who are led by an ex member of the Red Devils, at 11 am. This will be followed by cricket and rounders for those parents and children who want to be involved.
The proposed games are as follows:
1st XI Cricket v Fathers
Junior Cricket v Fathers (Forms IV, III, II and I)
1st IX Rounders v Mothers
Under 11 Rounders v Mothers
Under 9 Rounders v Mothers
THERE WILL BE NO CATERING IN THE MARQUEE, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING A PICNIC TO HAVE ON THE FIELD AFTERWARDS (about 12.30pm) (or between innings for the 1st XI Cricket)
IF YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE IN SCHOOL THAT MORNING THEN PLEASE TELL GINA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Exeat Weekend
The exeat weekend officially begins at 12.30 pm on Saturday 19th June 2010. I should just like to remind you that we do not provide any transport home on this occasion. However, there is transport at the end of the exeat on Tuesday 22nd June as per previous travel arrangements sent out last week.
STOP PRESS – SOMME TRIP RETURN
Members of Form V & VI along with staff and parents have just returned from their trip to the Battlefields in Northern France. It has obviously been a very successful and enjoyable visit. I would particularly like to thank Peter Wilkinson, John Horton, Penny Clark and former parent Mandy Long for all of their efforts.
