Exeat Travel Arrangements – Friday 30th April to Tuesday 4th May 2010

The Exeat begins on Friday 30th January at 12.30 pm and ends on Tuesday 4th May at 8.00 pm (for boarders) or Wednesday 5th May at 8.25 am (for day pupils).   Please find enclosed the travel arrangements for this exeat and inform Gina as soon as possible of any changes.  Mobile phone numbers are on the travel arrangements so you can contact the various buses direct, if there is a problem.

Summer Uniform

The children will move into Summer uniform, after this exeat. Boarders need to bring this back with them on Tuesday evening, if it is not already in school and those returning on Wednesday morning need to do so wearing Summer uniform (Girls- Summer dresses and long white socks, Boys- short-sleeved shirts and no tie).

Art Workshops

This week, pupils in Forms II to V have been taking part in a series of Art Workshops with local artist, Maggie Moore, on the theme of ‘Pop Art’. This extension to the Art programme has been possible due to sponsorship from Morco Products Ltd. Grateful thanks to Charles and Sue Gillett for their support.

Use of iPods etc.

I wrote to you before Christmas about these items. Whilst we do not encourage children to bring them to school, we do recognise that they are becoming more widely used.

At the start of the new term, I reminded the children about when and where they could use such devices, in school, for listening to music. They should not be used for viewing films, or for playing games.

Can I re-emphasise that these items need to be covered by your own household insurance. If they are brought into school they should be clearly named, in a manner which cannot easily be removed.

‘Smarties’ tubes

Please could you encourage those children who have not yet returned their’ Smarties’ tube, hopefully filled with 20p pieces, to hand them in to Gina in the office as soon as possible.

Atlantic Row Talk

Those children who boarded on Friday evening were treated to a very entertaining presentation by Matthew Mackaness, about his exploits rowing across the Atlantic Ocean. Thank you very much to those parents who also supported this event, it was a very good evening.

Old Bramcotians’ Walk

Thank you very much to those parents who supported the Old Bramcotians’ Walk on Saturday. It was a very successful event, the participants leaving school at around 6.45am and returning having walked 36 miles, to a rousing reception from the boarders, at around 9.00pm.

Victorian Historian DVD

A reminder that anyone who would like to order a copy of the DVD of last term’s Show should order it by contacting Gina, or Sue Gillett directly, before 1st May.

Car Parking

There are very limited numbers of spaces on our front car park. Please could I ask those parents who do find a space to only park within the marked lines and not to obstruct the pavement or other cars. Should the car park be full, please can I ask parents to drive on, park and walk with their children from either Belvedere Road or Holbeck Hill. Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation with this.

School Shop Open

We have made arrangements with Rawcliffes for the School Shop to be open more frequently, this term. These dates are published in the School Calendar and the first one is this coming Wednesday afternoon, from 3.30pm to 5.00pm.
