Science
The aims of the science department at Bramcote are to instil in the pupils a through knowledge of scientific principles. Inspiring an interest in, and curiosity about, all aspects of the scientific world and developing in them the skills and abilities necessary to investigate these.
The over-riding aim is to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to cope with whichever examination they are personally aiming for at the end of their Bramcote career. This could be Common Entrance, an independent entrance examination to a public, Common Scholarship, or a specific school’s own Scholarship exam.
To this end, the requirements of the National Curriculum should be fulfilled. Good performance according to pupil’s abilities, at Key Stage 2 (age 11) is seen as ideal preparation for the final two years of Bramcote.
Schemes of Work take into account the Common Entrance syllabus and the National Curriculum.
