Religious Studies

Bramcote was founded on a Christian ethos and has a close association with St Martin-on-the-Hill Parish Church. The teaching of Religious Education takes place throughout the School (Reception to Year 8), with an emphasis on the Bible stories.

Religious Studies

Pupils in the Pre-Prep School (Reception to Year 3) have the opportunity to study other World Religions. In the Main School (Year 4 to Year 8) the 13+ Common Entrance syllabus is followed with pupils studying the Compulsory Topics of the Old and New Testaments and the General Bible Knowledge Topics for the optional paper. The resources used by the Department are the Good News Bible and the Lion Children’s Bible.

Chapel Services at School

The children in the Prep School (Year 4 to Year 8) also participate regularly in a short morning Chapel Service led by the Headmaster, the Deputy Headmaster or the Vicar from St Martin’s. Once a week, on a Saturday, there is a longer School Service. The Services are non-denominational and all the pupils are encouraged to take part.

In the Pre-Prep School (Reception to Year 3) the pupils have a daily Assembly that includes a religious element, often a prayer and a song, led by the Pre-Prep Staff. There are very strong links with the PSHE curriculum to promote appropriate moral and spiritual values.
